the village of hope seeks to help children infected or affected by hiv, aids and tb in two different ways: we have a 9 bed children's unit to support those infected by hiv and aids and we also run a community-based sports and lifeskills outreach in the informal settlements and squatter camps each afternoon.

this blog has been set up to allow the key members of the team at the village of hope to share their thoughts, photos and experiences as we work in the community of grabouw in south africa

a different view...

sometimes its hard to capture all that goes on here at the village of hope and to have an opportunity to look at it from a different angle is always interesting.

our most recent longer term volunteer, a wonderful young lady called shannon from hunnington beach california, is serving with us for six months and she is keeping a blog (which hasn't been updated for a while, come on shannon!) which we would like you to visit to hear her experiences as she lives and works with us....therefore please click on this link to read her blog, see some of the photos she has taken and hear about her experiences here in grabouw.

an alternative view!

this village of hope blog was set up to allow all members of the longer term team to share their thoughts and experiences with you (the wider world) and as you will know we are never short of news stories here in grabouw, however on this post we thought it would be good for you to have a look at some of the other blogs that have been set up by some of our shorter term volunteers who are living with us at the village of hope at the moment.

we hope that their stories and views will give a bit of an alternative view of life on the project and will highlight some of the things that have touched their hearts as they serve with us in grabouw and as they venture around this amazing country. if you would like to take a peek then click on the names below which will link to their various blogs, katia, jess and grace.

volunteer blogs

it's always nice to see other peoples perspective on life and here at the village of hope that's no different, trondor from norway is working with us for a year and has his own blog, see here for a piece about the 2010 soccer world cup, you will have to get google to translate it from norwegian for you....jess (our longer term volunteer) has just returned home and is struggling to understand life, have a look at her blog here. we want to thank all our volunteers from 2009 and we hope that you will find the real purpose of life following your experiences with us.

village of hope office!

as the work of the village of hope expands so does the paperwork side of things, maz is doing an amazing job with our finances, and has been joined by corinne to sort the 'petty cash' side (although she looks more interested in her coffee!), rob house is also busy with documents, all three are pictured, emily has also been working in the 'dinning room/office' as she finishes off some video editing.

it's great to have such an amazing team around us and i hope that with rob around he might start to share some thoughts on this blog as well!....
